Best residential proxies · Bright Data for the widest tiers, Decodo for the lowest per-GB price
Pick Bright Data for heavy, predictable residential proxy use, the rented home internet addresses that make a request look like it comes from a normal household. Pick Decodo if a job stays under 1,000 GB a month and you want the lowest confirmed price.
our pick for you
Our pick
Pick Bright Data for the widest range of metered residential tiers and heavy, predictable volume. Bright Data’s own page claims 400M+ rotating residential IPs in 195 countries, free country, state, city and zip code targeting at every tier, and tiers running Pay As You Go at $8 a GB (or $4 a GB with the promo code RESIGB50) through a 798 GB a month billed monthly plan at $1,999. A short ID check called KYC runs before residential or mobile access turns on. Pick Decodo for the lowest confirmed price at nearly every volume under 1,000 GB: its 50 GB tier runs $150 a month billed monthly, and new accounts get a 3-day free trial with 100 MB. Decodo’s own product page claims 115M+ IPs, while Decodo’s own site footer elsewhere claims 125M+ IPs, two different numbers from the same company. Pick Oxylabs for one flat monthly bill with a fixed gigabyte cap: its plan grid runs Starter at $30 a month billed monthly for up to 5 GB ($6 a GB), Basic at $100 a month billed monthly for up to 20 GB ($5 a GB), Flexible at $500 a month billed monthly for up to 125 GB ($4 a GB), and Enterprise from $2,500 a month billed monthly for 1,000+ GB, where the rate falls to $2.50 a GB. Pick IPRoyal for no contract and no monthly minimum: its subscription runs $7.00 a GB at 1 GB down to $5.25 a GB at 10 GB and up, with no price break again until a 10 TB custom plan at $1.75 a GB. IPRoyal’s own headline claims 64M+ genuine residential IP addresses, while a reviews section on IPRoyal’s own page claims more than thirty two million IP addresses to select from at the highest-tier plan.
- Bright Data’s Pay As You Go plan runs $8 a GB, or $4 a GB with the promo code RESIGB50, with no commitment.
- Bright Data’s widest tier is 798 GB a month billed monthly for $1,999, its own top metered plan.
- Decodo’s 50 GB tier runs $150 a month billed monthly, the lowest confirmed total at that volume.
- Oxylabs’ plan grid runs from Starter at $30 a month billed monthly for up to 5 GB to Enterprise from $2,500 a month billed monthly for 1,000+ GB, where the rate falls to $2.50 a GB.
- IPRoyal’s subscription rate barely falls: $5.25 a GB at 10 GB and up, billed monthly, until just under 10 TB.
- The math: a 50 GB month costs 50 × $3 = $150 a month billed monthly on Decodo, 50 × $4 = $200 a month on Bright Data with its promo code, $500 a month billed monthly on Oxylabs’ Flexible plan (a flat price for up to 125 GB), and 50 × $5.25 = $262.50 a month billed monthly on IPRoyal.

MethodHow we scored these tools▾
Prices come from each vendor’s own residential proxy price list, fetched October 27, 2026. Bright Data’s prices include its promo code RESIGB50, good for 50% off for 3 months on top of its list rate; a promo code can end anytime, so check Bright Data’s own page for the current code before you budget around it. Oxylabs’ residential prices come from its plan grid, Starter, Basic, Flexible and Enterprise, each a flat monthly price with its own gigabyte cap and per-GB rate built in.
Who it's for
buy if
- You are pulling data from sites that block data center IPs and need a real household address instead.
- You want a plan priced by the gigabyte instead of a flat seat count.
- You want more than one vendor’s number in front of you before you pick a residential proxy plan.
skip if
- Skip a residential plan if your target site doesn’t block your current connection; a cheaper option may cover the job, check ISP proxies instead.
- Skip Bright Data if you can’t clear its ID check quickly; KYC runs before residential or mobile access turns on.
The short answer
Pick Bright Data for the widest range of metered residential tiers, Pay As You Go at $8 a GB (or $4 a GB with the promo code RESIGB50) through a 798 GB a month billed monthly plan at $1,999. A short ID check called KYC runs before residential or mobile access turns on.
Pick Decodo for the lowest confirmed price at nearly every volume under 1,000 GB. Its 50 GB tier runs $150 a month billed monthly.
Pick Oxylabs for one flat monthly bill with a fixed gigabyte cap. Its plan grid runs from Starter at $30 a month billed monthly for up to 5 GB up to Enterprise from $2,500 a month billed monthly for 1,000+ GB, where the rate falls to $2.50 a GB.
Pick IPRoyal for no contract and no monthly minimum, though its per-GB rate barely falls between a 10 GB buyer and a 10 TB buyer.
What a 50 GB month costs at each vendor
The math: a 50 GB month. Decodo’s own 50 GB tier runs $3 a GB, so 50 × $3 = $150 a month billed monthly. Bright Data’s Pay As You Go plan runs $4 a GB with its promo code RESIGB50: 50 × $4 = $200 a month on pay as you go. Without the code, 50 × $8 = $400 a month on pay as you go. Oxylabs prices in flat plan tiers: a 50 GB job passes the Basic plan’s 20 GB cap and fits inside the Flexible plan’s 125 GB cap, so the bill is a flat $500 a month billed monthly for any amount up to 125 GB. IPRoyal has no price break between 10 GB and 10 TB, so a 50 GB buyer still pays the 10 GB subscription rate of $5.25 a GB, 50 × $5.25 = $262.50 a month billed monthly. Decodo prices lowest at this volume among the four vendors.
Why the pool-size numbers don’t agree
Decodo’s own residential proxy page claims “115M+ ethically-sourced IPs”. Decodo’s own site footer, on the same site, claims “125M+ IPs”. Both numbers come from Decodo, and they don’t match.
IPRoyal’s own headline claims “64M+ genuine residential IP addresses”. A reviews section on that same IPRoyal page claims “more than thirty two million IP addresses to select from at the highest-tier plan”. Both numbers come from IPRoyal, and they don’t match either.
Treat any single “X million IPs” number on a vendor’s own page as that vendor’s own claim instead of an audited count. On June 3, 2026, @mindsnacksHQ wrote on X, “…ISP proxies are typically sold per IP. Residential proxies are usually billed by bandwidth, meaning you pay per GB of traffic you use.” A residential IP rotates across real household devices, so the IP itself isn’t a stable, sellable unit; an ISP proxy holds one IP, so it gets sold per IP instead; see ISP proxies for that pricing.
The ID check before residential access turns on
Bright Data calls it KYC, short for know your customer, an ID check that runs before residential or mobile proxy access turns on. Bright Data’s own compliance pages describe a short intro video call plus verification of your company or personal information. Oxylabs and IPRoyal each link a KYC Policy page in the site footer, though neither explains when the check happens. Decodo’s residential price list doesn’t mention KYC at all.
On September 14, 2026, tehwebguy wrote on Hacker News, “If the name Bright Data is ringing a bell to anyone, it’s probably because they are a (the?) primary offender running the LG TV ‘residential proxy’ (botnet)”. That’s one commenter’s opinion. It sits next to Bright Data’s own KYC and compliance-review language.
Common questions
What is a residential proxy?▾
A residential proxy is another computer’s home internet address, borrowed from a real household device, that your request routes through. All four vendors in this list, Bright Data, Decodo, Oxylabs and IPRoyal, charge for residential proxies by the gigabyte instead of a flat seat price.
How much do residential proxies cost per GB?▾
Rates run from about $1.75 a GB at IPRoyal’s largest custom tier, available only from 10 TB, up to $8 a GB on Bright Data’s Pay As You Go plan without its promo code. At a 50 GB month, Decodo runs $150 a month billed monthly, the lowest confirmed total of the four.
What’s the difference between residential and ISP proxies?▾
A residential proxy rotates across a large number of real household IPs, so it’s billed by bandwidth, the number of gigabytes you use. An ISP proxy holds one IP, so it’s billed per IP instead. See ISP proxies for that pricing.
Are residential proxies legal?▾
Buying and running a residential proxy is legal. What a job does through that proxy can still break a target site’s own rules or local law, so check the rules of whatever site a proxy connects to.
Which residential proxy provider is cheapest?▾
Decodo prices lowest at nearly every volume under 1,000 GB among the four vendors. Its 50 GB tier runs $150 a month billed monthly, against $200 on Bright Data with its promo code, $500 a month billed monthly on Oxylabs’ Flexible plan, and $262.50 on IPRoyal.
What does “unlimited” mean for a residential proxy plan?▾
Not unlimited data. None of the four vendors sells unlimited bandwidth. All four meter every gigabyte. Bright Data’s page lists “Unlimited scale” and “Unlimited seats” on its over-1-TB custom option, and Oxylabs and IPRoyal each list unlimited concurrent sessions. That means no cap on the number of connections open at once. It does not mean unlimited data.

What to do next
List your expected monthly gigabytes before you pick a plan. If that number sits under 1,000 GB, start with Decodo’s published price. If it’s heavy and predictable, start Bright Data’s KYC check early so it doesn’t slow down your first pull. Try Bright Data
