The short answer
Stay on Kit’s free Newsletter plan if your list is under 10,000 subscribers and you send one email at a time. It costs $0 a month, as of October 26, 2026.
Pick Creator if you want emails that send on their own after someone signs up. At 1,000 subscribers, Creator is $33 a month billed yearly, $390 a year, or $39 a month billed monthly.
Pick Pro if you want a referral program, where readers earn rewards for bringing friends, and engagement scores for each subscriber. At 1,000 subscribers, Pro is $66 a month billed yearly or $79 a month billed monthly.
Pick Beehiiv if you want ads and referrals built into a newsletter. Beehiiv Lite is $49 a month billed yearly for 1,000 subscribers, as of October 26, 2026.
What each Kit plan includes
Kit is an email tool for creators. It sends newsletters, hosts sign-up pages and sells digital products. It used to be called ConvertKit.

The plans below are as of October 26, 2026. A broadcast is one email sent to your list at once. Tags are labels you put on subscribers so you can email one group. A deliverability report shows how well your emails reach inboxes.

When the free Newsletter plan stops being enough
The free plan stops at 10,000 subscribers. Past that, you need Creator or Pro.
It also stops being enough when you want automations. An email sequence is a set of emails sent in order, such as a welcome series that goes out one email a day after someone signs up. Visual automations are the map you draw in Kit to decide which subscriber gets which sequence. Both start on Creator, as of October 26, 2026.
Move to Pro when you want a referral program or want to see which subscribers open and click. The newsletter referral system, engagement scores and deliverability reports come only on Pro, as of October 26, 2026.
What Kit costs at 1,000 and 5,000 subscribers against Beehiiv
The math: on October 26, 2026 prices, billed yearly:
At 1,000 subscribers, Kit Creator is $33 a month and Beehiiv Lite is $49 a month. Kit Pro is $66 a month and Beehiiv Pro is $95 a month.
At 5,000 subscribers, Kit Creator is $75 a month and Beehiiv Lite is $95 a month. Kit Pro is $116 a month and Beehiiv Pro is $169 a month.
So Kit costs less than Beehiiv at both sizes, on both paid levels. Kit Creator saves $16 a month at 1,000 subscribers and $20 a month at 5,000.
Beehiiv prices are as of October 26, 2026. Beehiiv’s October 1, 2026 pricing post says existing Beehiiv customers move to the new prices at their first renewal on or after November 1, 2026.
What Kit charges when you sell or earn from recommendations
Kit Commerce, its tool for selling digital products, charges 3.5% plus $0.30 per sale, with no monthly fee, as of October 26, 2026.
Paid Recommendations pay you when another creator gains a subscriber from your recommendation. As of October 26, 2026, Kit takes a 20% service fee and a 3.5% transaction fee on each paid referral.
Beehiiv takes 0% of digital product sales, and Stripe, the card processor, charges 2.9% plus $0.30 per charge, as of October 26, 2026.
On each $10 digital product sale, Kit keeps about $0.65 and Stripe keeps about $0.59 on Beehiiv.
What the email delivery test shows, and who ran it
EmailToolTester, a site that reviews email tools, tests what share of emails from each tool lands in the inbox instead of spam. Its page was updated August 5, 2026. EmailToolTester ran the test and does not say who funds it. Its pages link to Kit, so treat it as a site that may earn money from Kit sign-ups.
Kit’s latest measured score in that test is 91.3%, from June 2023. Kit was not tested in January 2024, and EmailToolTester says the method changed in May 2025. A 2023 score says little about Kit today, so send a test campaign from your own account before you rely on it.
What one switcher said about the price
Asad Ahmed moved from ConvertKit to Beehiiv after a support problem, and posted about it on LinkedIn on October 30, 2024. He said Beehiiv’s
“basic plan is much more expensive than convertkit”
That fits the math above, where Kit Creator costs less than Beehiiv Lite at 1,000 and 5,000 subscribers.
