Zillow API · what Zillow still hands out, and how to get listings and agents in code
Visit SearchApiZillow Group lists close to 20 APIs with no prices, and its data APIs are invite only or request access. Zillow Research files cover regional stats, and their download page shows no price. SearchApi Developer is $40 a month for 10,000 searches for listings and listing agents.

You search for a Zillow API key and find a request form. An API is a way for your code to ask another service for data. An API key is the password your code sends with each request.
As of October 26, 2026, Zillow Group has close to 20 APIs. None of them shows a price.

The short answer
Use Zillow Research data if you need home values or rents by city or region. As of October 26, 2026, the download page for the files shows no price and asks for no login. Read the terms before you use them in a product you sell.
Use SearchApi if you need home listings or listing agents in your code. Developer is $40 a month for 10,000 searches as of October 26, 2026, and it bills only for searches that succeed.
Apply to Zillow Group if you are building a product that stores Zillow data for customers. Its own data APIs are invite only or request access, and no price is shown.
What Zillow still hands out, and to whom
Zillow Group’s developer page groups its APIs under Agents, MLS and Broker Listings, Mortgage, Public Data and Rentals. An MLS is the shared database real estate agents use to list homes.
The Bridge Public Records API holds county records of parcels, tax assessments and sales across the US, going back about 15 years. As of October 26, 2026, Zillow says “The platform is currently invite only.”
The Zestimates API returns Zillow’s home value estimates for about 100 million US properties. A Zestimate is Zillow’s guess at what a home is worth. Zillow says the API is meant for commercial use by businesses, and access starts with a Request Access form.
Zillow Research data is the open door. It has downloadable files of home values and rents by region, for research and academic projects, with what Zillow calls “a looser Terms of Use.”
The Hacker News user daversa hit this gap in January 2026, while adding home data to WhyThere, a site that compares cities for people who plan to move.
We want to add home prices and rent, but that is really expensive data unfortunately. If this has legs, we may be able to justify paying for the Zillow API or something similar. daversa on Hacker News, January 26, 2026

Pick your job before you pick a tool
“Zillow API” covers three different jobs.
The first job is market stats, like the typical home value in Denver. Zillow Research files cover it, and their download page shows no price.
The second job is listings, like every home for sale in a ZIP code. A search API covers it. A search API runs the search on the site and hands back the results as data.
The third job is the people behind a listing, like the agent and the broker. A property-detail request covers it.
Split a big city into ZIP codes
SearchApi’s Zillow engine takes a city, ZIP code or neighborhood. As of October 26, 2026, it also takes a listing status, which is for sale, for rent or sold.
The docs’ sample search for New York reports 20,705 results and 24 pages. Results come in pages, and your code asks for one page at a time.
So search smaller areas. A ZIP code holds fewer homes than a whole city, and you can page through each ZIP to the end.

The agent’s name comes with the property
As of October 26, 2026, SearchApi’s Zillow Property engine returns an attribution block. It lists the listing agent’s name, phone and license number, the co-agent, the broker and the MLS name.
For a sales team that sells to agents, that turns a listings search into a list of active agents. These are business contacts from a public listing. Your local rules for calls and cold email still apply.

What each job costs
The math: on October 26, 2026 prices.
- Home values for 50 metro areas. The Zillow Research download page shows no price.
- For-sale listings in 100 ZIP codes. At up to 24 pages each, that is no more than 2,400 searches if each page request counts as one search. That fits inside SearchApi Developer at $40 a month for 10,000 searches.
- Listing agents for 1,000 homes. One Property request each is 1,000 searches, about $4 of the $40 a month plan if each Property request counts as one search.
- A product that stores Zillow data for customers. Zillow’s own APIs, with a price only after Zillow approves you.

For regional home values, start with Zillow’s research files. Their download page shows no price, and the APIs above either cost money or need Zillow’s approval.
SearchApi Production is $100 a month for 35,000 searches. Its legal protection guarantee starts on Production. The $40 a month Developer plan doesn’t include it.
