Every cold email domain needs a real landing page · blank vs redirect vs your own page
Parked and blank sending domains look like throwaways. Instantly and Hunter push redirect to primary. Smartlead prefers a basic own page. Reddit reports primary spam bleed. Hard bounce is not website bounce.

Most "cold email infrastructure" pages are tool lists. Domains, warmup, DNS, pricing. They skip a simpler question.
When someone types your From-domain into a browser, what do they see?
Blank. Parked. An error. A redirect to your main site. Or a small page with your company name and a way to reach you. That choice is the gap those roundups leave open.
Hard bounce is not website bounce
An email hard bounce means the mailbox path failed. Bad address. Full mailbox. Domain that does not accept mail. List hygiene drives that number. M3AAWG treats permanent failures as a reputation input for receivers. Amazon SES publishes bounce ceilings for accounts (about 2% recommended, higher triggers review).
Putting HTML on the sending domain does not fix dead addresses. If someone says a landing page cut email bounce in half, and they mean hard bounce with no list-verify control, that is a category error. Do not publish that claim without a measured study. We did not find one.
Also: the famous "under 2% bounce" line is Amazon SES policy, not a Gmail rule. Real Good GTM (Aug 2026) traces it. Gmail publishes spam-rate gates. It does not publish a bounce % requirement. Do not write that Gmail requires under 2% bounce.
Docs agree on not blank. They disagree on where it should go.
Instantly Help and Instantly's cold email guides recommend forwarding secondary domains to your main site so a prospect who looks you up does not hit a blank or error page. They frame it as a trust signal.
Hunter's dedicated cold email domain guide (Apr 2026) puts a 301 redirect to the main website as step 3.
Smartlead's secondary-domains guide (updated Aug 2026) calls "no web presence" a mistake that looks like a throwaway. Redirect is acceptable. Their FAQ says a basic landing page with company name and contact is better.
So the vendors agree parked or blank is bad. They do not agree on destination.
Reddit operators on r/coldemail report another pattern: cold domains redirecting into the primary site, then the primary starts landing in spam. Advice in those threads is often to decouple. Prefer a neutral page on the cold domain, or no redirect into primary. That is operator report, not a peer-reviewed study. Treat redirect-to-primary as contested, not settled.
The honest reason is human look-up
Instantly and Hunter language is simple. A prospect types the From-domain into a browser. They decide if you look real.
A parked page or a DNS error is an easy spam complaint. Spam complaints can touch Gmail's spam-rate gate. That is still not the same thing as cutting hard bounces. It is UX and trust. It is also the strongest reason the docs give without inventing percentages.
Folderly's domain health notes push the same direction: redirects and pages should lead somewhere real, secure, and usable on mobile. Soft reputation framing. No A/B.
What Google Postmaster will not prove for you
At cold multi-domain volumes, Google Postmaster often shows little or no data. Domain and IP reputation dashboards in Postmaster v2 were retired (industry notes: redirect from Sep 2025, legacy end of 2025). You cannot honestly promise that adding a page will make a Postmaster score climb.
Instrument what you can: hard-bounce %, reply rate per inbox, seed placement. Keep list verify upstream. The page on the domain is for the human who looks you up.
Skip unverified secondary citations (Validity "38% damaged primary," Mailtrap 10x, Hunter 23% via Smartlead) until you can quote the primary report yourself. We could not confirm the Validity 38% line in the public 2026 benchmark PDF.
What to put on the domain this week
Do not leave cold sending domains blank or parked.
If you redirect to primary, know the trade. Instantly and Hunter recommend it for trust. Some operators report primary spam bleed. Watch the primary closely, or decouple.
If you want the cleaner split, put a basic page on the cold domain: company name, what you do, a real contact path. That matches Smartlead's "better" guidance.
Do not expect that page to cut hard bounce by itself. Verify the list for that. Ship the page so the look-up does not look like a throwaway.
