Google News API · how to track headlines in 2026
Google lists no News API in its developer docs. A search API returns Google News results as data. Watch 200 accounts for $40 a month.

An API is the way your code asks a service for data. Google lists no News API in its developer docs. A Google News help-forum answer says the same. Its developers.google.com/news page redirects to Reader Revenue Manager, a tool for news publishers. To get Google News results as data, you use a search API.

The short answer
Use SearchApi's Google News engine. It returns headlines, sources and dates as data. For 200 accounts checked every weekday, the Developer plan covers it.
Why the links look strange
Google News now returns scrambled redirect links. SearchApi has a setting, link=resolved, that returns the real article link.

How to get only fresh news
SearchApi's time filter limits results to the last hour, the last day and longer windows. Checking each account once a weekday for the last day catches new stories.
What watching 200 accounts costs
Prices are from October 15, 2026.
The math: 200 accounts × 22 weekdays = 4,400 searches a month.
The math: Developer is $40 for 10,000 searches, so 4,400 fits. $40 ÷ 4,400 = about $0.009 per check. Production is $100 for 35,000, so Developer is the cheaper fit.
The 100 free requests cover a 100-account test for one day.

What to do with the results
Send each new headline to a sheet or a chat channel. A funding round or a new hire is a reason to reach out that week.
