Google Trends API · the official one is still in alpha
Google's official Trends API is an alpha you apply for. Until you get in, a search API returns Trends data today. It shows how, with the cost.

An API is the way your code asks a service for data. Google now has an official Trends API, but it is an alpha, an early test version, and you have to apply to use it.

The short answer
Apply for Google's alpha if you can wait. If you need Trends data this week, use SearchApi's Google Trends engine. It returns the same charts as data your code can read.
What Google's alpha gives you
Google's page lists what the alpha returns.
- Data for a rolling 5 years.
- Daily, weekly, monthly or yearly totals.
- Numbers that are not scaled from 0 to 100, so you can compare pulls over time.
Google says it "can't open the API for everyone yet," so access is by application.

How SearchApi returns Trends data
SearchApi has a google_trends engine. You send keywords, and it returns the interest-over-time chart as numbers.
One chart request can hold up to 5 keywords.
What tracking 50 keywords costs
Prices are from October 15, 2026.
The math: 50 keywords ÷ 5 per request = 10 requests per pull.
The math: SearchApi's 100 free requests ÷ 10 = 10 pulls free.
The math: one pull a day for 30 days = 10 × 30 = 300 requests. Developer is $40 for 10,000 requests, which covers that with room left.

What about pytrends
pytrends is free code that reads the Trends website. It isn't an official API, so it can break when Google changes the site.
