Mailshake pricing · seats buy mailboxes, and the Smartlead leave
Hard caps at 1/2/10, FAQ seat-as-mailbox billing, Sales Engagement card vs help conflict, fleet math to ~$450, and Smartlead white-label for agencies.

Mailshake’s sticker looks cheap. The scarce unit is connected mail accounts.
Starter, Email Outreach, and Sales Engagement hard-cap sending accounts at 1, 2, and 10 on the pricing cards. Unlimited contacts and unlimited campaigns are easy to see. Scaled cold email runs on inbox rotation across many mailboxes. Ten is the most you get below the custom Agency plan.
Robby Frank at EmailChaser put it plainly. Sending accounts are hard caps. Modern cold email rotates many mailboxes. Ten is the ceiling under Agency.
Unlimited sends · mailboxes are the cap
Starter allows 1,500 sends and 1 address. Email Outreach and Sales Engagement advertise unlimited sends. The real constraint is connected addresses, not the send counter.
Operators who rotate 20–50 boxes will hit the wall long before they care about send “unlimited.” Plan the fleet against 1 / 2 / 10, not against the contact counter.
Monthly floors today are Starter $29, Email Outreach $49, and Sales Engagement $99. Yearly-class pairs land near $25 / $45 / $85.
Mailboxes are bought as seats
Mailshake’s FAQ says that with each user you pay for, your team may connect 1 mail account. It also says you can pay for 3 users with only 1 person on the team if you need 3 mail accounts.
Seat sticker is not headcount. Seat sticker is mailbox capacity. Buyers who model people on the team under-buy the rotation job.

Help centre vs pricing card · two readings of “10”
The Sales Engagement pricing card prints 10 email addresses. Help “Pricing explained” says Starter 1 mail per user, Email Outreach 2 per user, and Sales Engagement up to 5 per user. The help worked example is 2 users → 10 mailboxes on SE.
Same plan. Two official surfaces. Operators who trust the card alone mis-scope seats. Operators who trust help alone buy seats to unlock the card’s “10.” Quote both. Do not invent a third reading. Confirm with support before you lock a forecast.

Fleet sketch · why $49 looks cheap and isn’t
Need about 20 sending accounts on Email Outreach at 2 per user. That is 10 seats × $45 annual class ≈ $450 per month for the sequencer alone, before Google or Microsoft boxes.
On the Sales Engagement help reading (5 per user), 20 boxes need 4 seats × $85 ≈ $340 per month. Still plus the mailbox invoice. EmailChaser’s line still holds. Ten is the most below custom Agency on the card reading.
Review tables print $49 or $99 once. Fleet math multiplies.

Agency leave · Smartlead white-label · not another SE seat
Mailshake Agency is talk-to-sales. Smartlead Pro is a flat $94. White-label is $29 per client workspace from Pro. Unlimited Prime at $379 includes three client workspaces.
Five clients on Pro ≈ $94 + $145 = $239 per month before mailboxes. That is a different product shape than stacking Sales Engagement seats. Review farms often pitch Lemlist or Saleshandy as alts. Keep those as peer notes. Never make Lemlist the leave button.
Open Smartlead when client workspaces and fleet rotation matter more than a per-user sales-engagement seat.

Third invoice · boxes never ride free
Sequencer “unlimited connected accounts” is not free Workspace. Model the mailbox line before leadership forecast.
Zapmail markets year-one floors near $2.50–$3.90 per mailbox. Zapmail help also publishes a post-twelve-month pass-through (Starter class near $59 + $6 per mailbox in prior notes). Confirm live. Inboxkit wallet often lands near $2.50 per mailbox on annual. Premium Inboxes Start Up is about $3.50 per inbox.
Buy fleet boxes on Zapmail, Inboxkit, or Premium Inboxes. Mailshake’s own Ready-to-Use Mailboxes and Data Finder add-ons ($12 / $19 class on older teardowns) are still a third invoice if you stay. Prefer the live inbox path for rotation fleets.
There is no free trial. Mailshake collects payment up front. A 30-day guarantee is not a trial. Price that friction into the decision.
What to change this week
Multiply seats before you compare stickers. Read both the pricing card and the help article for Sales Engagement’s “10.” Add mailbox year-one and year-two lines to the forecast.
