How to build a GTM tech stack · the tools in order, and what each team pays

Visit AI ARK

A cold email stack is six layers in order: list, emails, checks, inboxes, warmup and sending. The core bill for 10 mailboxes is $134 a month billed monthly, plus a paid Instantly plan and domains.

The short answer

A solo founder with about 10 mailboxes needs four tools. AI Ark builds the list. FullEnrich finds the emails and mobiles AI Ark misses. InboxKit sells the mailboxes. A paid Instantly plan warms them up and sends. The core bill is $134 a month billed monthly. That sum leaves out the Instantly plan and the domains.

A small team with about 30 mailboxes uses the same four tools. Only the InboxKit line grows, so the core bill is $194 a month billed monthly, before Instantly and domains.

A larger team with about 150 mailboxes keeps AI Ark, FullEnrich and Instantly. It gives each rep an Apollo seat. An Apollo seat is one paid Apollo login for one person. It also moves its inboxes to Premium Inboxes. With 10 reps, the core bill is $1,279 a month billed monthly, before Instantly and domains.

The counts of 10, 30 and 150 mailboxes are example team sizes. Put your own numbers into the math further down.

A GTM tech stack for cold email has six layers. You set them up in the order your data moves. First you build a list. Then you find emails and mobile numbers, check the emails, buy inboxes and domains, warm the inboxes up, and send.

GTM stands for go-to-market, the work of finding and winning customers, and not Google Tag Manager.

Spiral notebook page with the hand-lettered title How to build a GTM tech stack and a checklist of six layers in order, list, emails, check, inboxes, warmup and send, with inboxes and check marked in yellow highlighter, and three sticky notes on the margin that say 10 mailboxes, 30 mailboxes and 150 mailboxes
Six layers, set up in the order your data moves.

Why the order of the tools saves you money

Each layer feeds the next one. A list with no emails gives your sender nothing to send. An email to a dead address bounces back, and a check before the send catches it.

So set the layers up in order. Pay for the next tool only once the one before it works.

The tools that break first are the plumbing behind sending. That means the inboxes, the domains, the warmup and the email checks. Warmup is sending small, safe emails from a new inbox so it looks normal before you send cold email.

Hand-drawn pipe that runs left to right from a list, into three stacked cups where misses drip from one cup to the next, through a sieve labelled check, into a row of small inbox boxes, then an arrow labelled send
Data moves from the list to the send, one layer at a time.

Step 1 · Build your first list cheaply with AI Ark

A list is the set of companies and people you plan to email. You build it with filters, such as job title, company size, industry and location. You can also ask for lookalikes, companies that look like your best customers.

Data tools charge in credits. A credit is the unit a data tool bills you in, and each action spends a set number of them.

AI Ark is the pick for your first list. It ranks first for lookalike lists, and Apollo ranks second. AI Ark is $49 a month billed monthly for 5,000 credits, or $470 a year billed yearly.

A person with a found email costs about 1 credit in AI Ark. A found mobile costs 5 credits. At $49 a month billed monthly for 5,000 credits, a found email costs about one cent.

The free plan gives you 100 credits a month, and it never turns into a paid plan on its own. Unused AI Ark credits roll over to the next month. Use the free credits to test your real customer profile before you pay.

Apollo is the other way to start. Apollo Free gives 900 credits per seat a year, handed out a little each month. Apollo Basic is $49 per seat a month billed yearly, or $65 per seat a month billed monthly.

An Apollo email costs 1 credit. Apollo also charges credits for phone numbers, and it does not publish the phone cost.

Apollo wins once each rep needs a login of their own. One Apollo login finds contacts and sends sequences. A sequence is a set of emails that go out over several days. That is why the larger team in the math adds an Apollo seat for each rep.

Step 2 · Find the emails and mobiles your list missed with FullEnrich

Enrichment is the step that fills in contact details for each person on your list.

FullEnrich does it with a waterfall. A waterfall tries several data providers in order until one finds a match. FullEnrich runs its waterfall across more than 20 vendors, so you don’t need an account at each one.

FullEnrich Pro is $55 a month billed monthly for 1,000 credits. A work email costs 1 credit, and a mobile costs 10 credits. You pay only for the phones it finds. There is no per-seat fee, so the whole team can share one plan.

The math: 1,000 credits buys 100 mobiles at 10 credits each, or 1,000 work emails at 1 credit each. So send FullEnrich only the people AI Ark missed. Ask for mobiles only for people you plan to call.

LeadMagic is another finder. LeadMagic Essential is $99 a month billed monthly, or $83 a month billed yearly, for 5,000 credits. An email costs 1 credit, a mobile costs 5, and a lookup that finds nothing is free.

The math: LeadMagic Essential at $99 a month billed monthly is $99 ÷ 5,000 = about $0.02 a credit, so a found mobile costs about $0.10. FullEnrich Pro at $55 a month billed monthly is $55 ÷ 1,000 = $0.055 a credit, so a found mobile costs about $0.55.

LeadMagic costs less per mobile. FullEnrich stays the pick for the people your list tool missed, because it tries more than 20 vendors in order.

Step 3 · Check every email before it goes out

A bounce is an email that comes back because the address does not exist. Check emails before you send, so your list holds fewer dead addresses.

Some addresses are hard to check. A catch-all domain accepts mail for any address, real or fake, so a wrong address never bounces. A basic check can’t tell the real ones from the fake ones.

Catch-alls are worth checking with care. In a test that @atishayhyperke posted on X on October 23, 2026, 1,484 of 1,666 catch-all addresses turned out to be valid.

FullEnrich says it verifies 80% of catch-alls. AI Ark checks emails when you export them. So for a small list, the first two layers already do part of this job.

GTM Tech Stack has no review of a separate email verifier, so no verifier gets a pick.

Step 4 · Buy mailboxes and domains apart from your company email

A domain is the web address after the @ in an email. A mailbox is one email account on that domain. One domain can hold several mailboxes.

Keep your main company domain out of cold email. Cold email goes out from extra domains you buy for it.

Each domain needs DNS set up. DNS is the settings that point a domain at its mail. Two of those settings count for cold email. SPF is a DNS record that lists the servers allowed to send mail for your domain. DKIM is a signature added to each email that proves your domain sent it.

ScaledMail puts 2 to 3 mailboxes on each domain. The math: 10 mailboxes need 4 to 5 domains, 30 mailboxes need 10 to 15, and 150 mailboxes need 50 to 75. A .com domain at Namecheap is $11.28 for the first year, and the retail price after that is $14.98 a year. InboxKit sells a .co domain at $7 for the first year, and its pre-warmed domains carry a one-time fee from $12.50. The monthly sums in the math section leave domains out, and the domain math sits below them.

InboxKit is the pick for smaller volumes. InboxKit is $3.00 per mailbox per month billed monthly, or $2.50 billed yearly. You can start with one mailbox, and there is no minimum.

The math: 10 mailboxes × $3.00 = $30 a month billed monthly. 30 mailboxes × $3.00 = $90 a month billed monthly. On yearly billing, 30 mailboxes × $2.50 = $75 a month.

InboxKit also sells pre-warmed mailboxes, which arrive already warmed up. Those are $6, $7 or $9 per mailbox per month, at one flat rate with no plans, no base fee and no minimum. The math above uses regular InboxKit mailboxes at $3.00 a month billed monthly.

InboxKit gives you an API, a way for your own code to create inboxes. The trade is setup work. Checking DNS after setup is your job.

Premium Inboxes is the pick for larger volumes. Premium Inboxes is $3.50 per inbox per month billed monthly under 250 inboxes, and domains are not included. You bring your own domains.

Every Premium Inboxes plan includes full setup, upload to your sender and unlimited replacements. Premium Inboxes adds 24-hour monitoring from the Growth plan up. From 250 to 1,249 inboxes, the price drops to $3.00 per inbox a month billed monthly, and from 1,250 inboxes it is $2.80. On yearly billing, those two tiers are $30 and $28 per inbox a year.

The math: 150 inboxes × $3.50 = $525 a month billed monthly on Premium Inboxes. The same 150 on InboxKit is 150 × $3.00 = $450 a month billed monthly. The extra $525 minus $450 = $75 a month pays for someone else to set up inboxes and swap out dead ones. Pick Premium Inboxes once fixing inboxes by hand would eat more than $75 of your time a month.

ScaledMail is a third choice for fresh Google mailboxes. Those mailboxes still need warmup before you send cold volume.

Notebook page with two columns, the left labelled what other guides cover with CRM, reports and AI written under it, the right labelled what breaks first with domains, inboxes, warmup and email checks marked in yellow highlighter, and a sticky note that says price × count = monthly bill
The sending plumbing breaks before the CRM does. A CRM is the system where you keep track of contacts and deals.

Step 5 · Warm up new inboxes inside your sender for free

Warmup is how Google and Microsoft learn to trust a new address.

You do not need a separate tool for it. Instantly’s paid plans include warmup on every inbox you connect.

Buy a separate warmup tool only for an inbox you never send campaigns from. For everything else, warmup adds $0 to the bill.

Step 6 · Send your emails with a paid Instantly plan

A sequencer is the tool that sends the email steps over days.

Instantly is the pick for solo founders and small teams. It has simpler screens and a fast first campaign. It connects unlimited mailboxes, with warmup built in.

You need a paid Instantly plan.

Agencies that send email for clients pick Smartlead instead. Smartlead keeps each client in a separate workspace.

The math for each team size, added up

Every price in this section is billed monthly. Each sum leaves out the paid Instantly plan and the domains.

The math: a solo founder with 10 mailboxes pays AI Ark $49 + FullEnrich Pro $55 + InboxKit 10 × $3.00 = $30. That is $49 + $55 + $30 = $134 a month billed monthly.

The math: a small team with 30 mailboxes pays AI Ark $49 + FullEnrich Pro $55 + InboxKit 30 × $3.00 = $90. That is $49 + $55 + $90 = $194 a month billed monthly.

The math: a larger team with 10 reps and 150 mailboxes pays AI Ark $49 + Apollo Basic 10 × $65 = $650 + FullEnrich Pro $55 + Premium Inboxes 150 × $3.50 = $525. That is $49 + $650 + $55 + $525 = $1,279 a month billed monthly.

The larger team can cut its bill with yearly billing. Apollo Basic for 10 reps is 10 × $49 = $490 a month billed yearly. That saves $650 minus $490 = $160 a month against monthly billing.

Domains are a yearly cost on top of these sums. The domain counts are an assumption: one domain for every 3 mailboxes, rounded up.

The math: the solo founder needs 4 domains × $11.28 = $45.12 for the first year. The small team needs 10 domains × $11.28 = $112.80 for the first year. The larger team needs 50 domains × $11.28 = $564.00 for the first year. From the second year, at the retail price of $14.98 a year, the larger team pays 50 × $14.98 = $749.00 a year.

For 10 reps, 1,000 FullEnrich credits buys 100 mobiles a month, or 10 mobiles each. Treat the FullEnrich line as the floor for that team.

Three hand-drawn receipts side by side for 10, 30 and 150 mailboxes, each line written as a price times a count, totals of $134, $194 and $1,279 circled in pen, and a blank box on each receipt labelled plus Instantly
Each line is a price times a count, and each total leaves room for the sender.

What else a full stack needs, beyond cold email

A dialer calls people from your browser and logs each call. Apollo sells one called Advanced Dialer. It is $119 per team a month billed yearly, or $149 billed monthly. GTM Tech Stack has no dialer review, so no dialer gets a pick.

A CRM also records who owns each account, contact and deal. GTM Tech Stack has no CRM review, so no CRM gets a pick.

Some teams also pull web data into scripts and AI tools. Firecrawl turns web pages into text for code to read, and its free plan gives you 1,000 credits a month. Firecrawl Hobby is $16 a month billed yearly, or $19 billed monthly.

SearchApi sells Google search results as data for your code. SearchApi Developer is $40 a month billed monthly for 10,000 searches, which is $4 per 1,000. SearchApi Production is $100 a month billed monthly for 35,000 searches. Bright Data sells tools that collect data from websites at large scale.

Three more tools sit outside cold email. Runable is an AI agent that makes slides, images and simple websites from one request. beehiiv and Kit both run newsletters.

What to do this week

Start with the list. Pull a small test list on AI Ark’s free plan, and send only the misses to FullEnrich.

Then count your mailboxes. Pick InboxKit if you need a few dozen, and Premium Inboxes if you need 150 or more. Connect them to Instantly and let warmup run before your first campaign.
